About Magic Parks
A theme park built inside Minecraft by a small team who wanted it to exist. Here is what it is and how it works.
Magic Parks is a theme park that exists inside Minecraft. It has working rides, nightly fireworks, an economy, a weather system tied to the real world, and a staff of people who care far too much about the placement of individual lamp posts.
It is built by hand, block by block, by a very small number of people, for no reason other than that we wanted it to exist.
What Makes It Different
Plenty of people have built theme parks in Minecraft. Most of them are buildings — beautiful, accurate, and entirely static. You walk up to the coaster and there is nothing to ride.
Everything here runs. The coasters have vehicles that follow real paths at real speeds. The dark rides have animatronics posed frame by frame. The queues batch you in and the audio is cued to where you are on the track, not to when you pressed a button. When we say an attraction is open, we mean you can get on it.
How It Is Built
The park runs on Paper with a stack of plugins, several of which we wrote ourselves because nothing existing did the job. The ride system drives vehicles along arc-length parameterised paths; the show system fires timed cue sequences for fireworks, lighting and effects; a custom plugin keeps the in-game sky and weather in step with Central Florida.
Behind all of that is an unglamorous amount of tooling: scripts that read blocks straight out of region files, a browser-based track editor, a watchdog that notices when an animatronic has frozen and quietly revives it. None of it is visible from the ground, which is rather the point.
Who Builds It
A small team. Some build, some write show sequences, some spend their evenings working out why a boat clips a wall on one specific turn. If that sounds like a reasonable way to spend an evening, we would like to hear from you.
A Note on What This Is
Magic Parks is an independent fan project. It is free, non-commercial, and made out of admiration. It opens to the public on May 4th 2027. We are not affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, and nothing here is an official product of anyone.
